Selenium Intensification
for Black & White Negatives

Mix Selenium 1:2 with Kodak Hypo Clearing Agent instead of water.

Use this method to achieve N+1 Development rather than adding time to normal development of film. (N+1 Development can increase film grain). Selenium Intensification will slightly increase Zone III but will increase Zone VIII by one stop. This method is based on the work of Ansel Adams. See, The Negative by Ansel Adams.

TRAY DEVELOPMENT

Insert negative for 5-10min constant agitation. Any longer than 10min has no effect.

PROCESS AT 68F

3.

After toning, place negative in Hypo Clearing Agent for 3min. Wash as normal.
